Max Collie - leader and trombonist - left his native Melbourne, Australia in 1962 to tour with the Melbourne New Orleans Jazzband, Later, in Britain in 1966 he formed his own band the "Rhythm Aces" The band has had fewer personnel changes than any other professional band in the UK. A string of highly successful record albums and countless radio and TV appearances all over the world, testify to the fact that they are undoubtedly among the leading traditional jazz band in the world today. They have appeared at over 3000 major festivals from New Orleans and Los Angeles to Antibes and Holland's North Sea Festival. They were winners of the World Championship of New Orleans Jazz in Indianapolis USA on their last U.S. tour against the cream of North American traditional jazz musicians.
Alan 'Slim' Poston Drums - Played for many years with Bob Wallis Storyville Jazz Band. Alan, affectionately known as SLIM, is well known on the English and International Jazz Scene and has now joined Max Collie to become a Rhythm Ace.
Denny Ilett Trumpet - One of England's best trumpet players as stated by Humphrey Lyttleton on BBC Radio. Denny has played in the band before in the 1980's and is back again with his very fiery hot style. He has recorded with the band on 5 recordings (New Orleans Mardi Gras, 20 years Together, Aces High, Live in Stuttgart, Hot Jazz Celebration).
'Count' John McCormack Bass - a very famous UK musician well known as a member of the international Liverpool Folk Group "The Spinners" - TV, Radio and Recording Stars. He has been with many Jazz Bands and also backing American stars. Count John has performed many gigs with the Rhythm Aces and is now a permanent member.
Karl Hird Clarinet Karl is from Melbourne, Australia and is known world wide from his performances and many CDs with the Hird Family Jazz Band, Llew and Pam Hird being his mother and father. He has been playing professionally since he was a young teenager and is regarded in Australia as their finest traditional Jazz clarinet exponent today.
Dickie White Banjo/vocals Dickie is from Banbury. He plays tenor Banjo and is a bandleader when not playing with the Rhythm Aces. He has replaced David Bashford who has severe heart problems. Dickie has been collecting Max Collie recordings for many years and is very familiar with the bands sound approach and repertoire thus making him the ideal replacement. People always think they have seen him before which is because he has been on BBC TV "Real Rooms" regularly for some years. (known there as Richard White) now you can see and hear him on banjo and vocals.
