Java |

|
Java was formed by Sheffield-based guitarist Jamie Taylor in the summer of 2003. All four band members are alumni of Leeds College of Music, and two are now on the LCM teaching staff. The group released its debut album "Anywhere But Here..." in late 2004, to positive critical response. The group plays mostly original material, which often aims to incorporate influences from outside jazz such as folk or world music.
"Enormously impressive debut from this quartet of Leeds College of Music graduates...Taylor's own playing is full of ideas with a strong sense of direction and in pianist Jamil Sheriff, he has a partner of equal inventiveness" - Jazz UK, Jan '05
"Genuine contemporary jazz...mellow, reflective, funky, and extravagant by turns" - Sandman Magazine
