Mark Crooks |
A seriously talented clarinet and tenor sax player, Mark Crooks won the Young Jazz Player of the Year Competition in 1991. His warm-toned clarinet playing evokes the sound of Benny Goodman and Buddy DeFranco and his mellow tenor style has touches of Zoot Sims and Scott Hamilton.
In a distinguished career he's played at such celebrated venues as Ronnie Scotts and 606 Club. He has his own quartet which includes guitarist Colin Oxley, and works in several groups including a two tenor-sax quintet with Jim Tomlinson.
