Michael Janisch, the dynamic American Jazz Bassist, Composer, and Bandleader now resident in the UK, has performed the world over from The Hollywood Bowl and Blue Note to appearing on The Michael Parkinson Show, Ronnie Scotts and the Brit Awards with many luminaries including Sir John Dankworth, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Gary Husband, Julian Joseph, Joe Lovano, Christine Tobin, Donny McCaslin, Anita Wardell, Mark Turner, and Shirley Horn.

Tonight he brings his stellar cross continental band of first call musicians from his native US and Great Britain, to play heartfelt music from his highly anticipated debut album, “Purpose Built,” which will be released OCT 19 worldwide on his newly minted “Whirlwind Recordings Ltd” (advance copies will be available tonight and from www.michaeljanisch.com in mid august). From Latin to swing to soul and groove to the avante garde, his music defies easy classification yet appeals to lovers of all styles of jazz, and he will even be performing some new arrangements of Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis compositions, as well as numbers from the classic American Songbook.
