Singer Ruth Getz is being sponsored by Hulljazz as a result of her winning 'best soloist' at the East Riding College Jazz Summer School. The course's completion was marked by a contest held at Hull Truck Theatre as part of 2009 Hull Jazz Festival. The judges were unanimous and Ruth walked away with the honours in spite of stiff competition.

Born and bred in London, she moved ten years ago to Hull where she currently works as a voice-over artist. Prior to this she sang on various studio sessions; everything from House Music to radio jingles! Ruth’s passion for the Great American Songbook has grown over recent years, and has led to a love of live performance.

Hence this gig - which also features the excellent playing of Martin Jones and backing by three of the best.
