Michael Janisch, the dynamic American Jazz Bassist, Composer and Bandleader now resident in the UK, has performed the world over from The Hollywood Bowl and Blue Note to appearing on The Michael Parkinson Show, Ronnie Scotts and the Brit Awards with many luminaries including Sir John Dankworth, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Gary Husband, Julian Joseph, Joe Lovano, Christine Tobin, Donny McCaslin, Anita Wardell, Mark Turner, and Shirley Horn.
Originally from Midwest America, Janisch graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2003, and, after 4 years, moved to London, UK, where he has become one of the first call bassists on the European scene, playing with both touring American ensembles, and many of Europe's elite jazz artists. He is also an ultra-successful bandleader, and is currently curating a monthly showcase of internationally renowned musicians at one of London's most prestigious jazz clubs
Purpose Built his dynamic and ambitious debut album, showcases music that cuts a wide swath from the broad stylistic continuum of jazz history, and in addition represents the diverse range of the bassist's musical influences outside the improvised realm
