Pianist Michael Garrick is an important part of British Jazz history. He's been active on the modern jazz scene since the 50's. One of his earlier bands included Joe Harriott and Shake Keane. In the 60's he was part of the seminal British modern jazz group the Rendall-Carr Quintet. Others he has worked with include John Dankworth, Cleo Laine, Nigel Kennedy, Benny Carter, Ronnie Scott, Humphrey Lyttelton, Norma Winstone and Adelaide Hall. His influences are as diverse as Pine Top Smith, George Shearing, MJQ, Duke Ellington and Indian classical music. Many of his recordings are collectors items selling internationally for up to £200.
