Brazilian Zezo Olimpio started his piano studies at a very young age and when he was 10 embarked upon the jazz and improvised music path. Having excellent teachers like composer Antonio Adolfo and pianist Luiz Eça, he started his own trio and begun working in Rio de Janeiro - his native town. After playing with various groups and accompanying solo artists and singers, Zezo was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Boston. In the USA, Zezo embraced jazz composition and also discovered his passion for film music. He managed to graduate summa cum laude in both jazz composition and film scoring. After graduating, he went back to Rio where he worked mainly with film and TV music, producing his own instrumental jazzwork and teaching at some of the best schools in Rio: CMAA and the American School. After being awarded the "Roslyn Lyons Scholarship", Zezo moved to the UK for his MA studies, working closely with Jonathan Eato and the Jazz Orchestra and also with John Taylor, analyzing some of Keith Jarrett's playing technique.
